Past Scholars: 3rd Pipeline 2023/24

For the 3rd year in a row, The Strivers’ Network provided free-of-charge mentorship and application guidance for a select group of Sri Lanka’s under-served high-achievers.

Sandaru Balahewa, Northwestern '28

Sandaru Balahewa, hailing from Mahinda College, Galle, will be studying Aerospace Engineering at Northwestern University—ranked in the Top 20 for Engineering. Ranking Island First for his OLs, Sandaru developed a passion for Mathematics and Science Olympiads, and went on to become an award-winning leader in the Olympiad community—a highlight being 2 Honorable Mentions at the International Mathematics Olympiad.

Amaya Ranatunge, Amherst '28

Amaya Ranatunge of Sanghamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Galle, will study English and International Relations at Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. Head Prefect of her school, Amaya emerged as a leader in her community and found her calling in Debating and Model United Nations—representing Sri Lanka at The Hague International MUN Conference in the Netherlands and the National High School MUN Conference in the US.
